Darts is a recreational activity and sport that evolved in the 20 th century from military training and a historical legacy of soldiering, combat, and armed engagement. Darts are now played virtually all over the world with the most competitive play taking places some nations, such as England where regular dart leagues meet several evenings per week. The game of darts is also taken up as a profession and professional players from all over the world are invited to play at various tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation – UK.

Darts was introduced in INDIA in 2003. It had been played in an unorganised manner until 2012. All state associations came together in the year 2012 to form the Indian Dart Federation . Having a registered federation ensured some quality tournaments and unconditional sponsored participation in professional darts competitions abroad.

The Tamil Nadu Darts Association (TANDA) was constituted by a group of professionals lead by Venu Pillai , himself a darts player, in September,2011 with a common objective to promote the game of Darts in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Darts Association is a not for profit association registered under the Registrar of societies, Tamil Nadu ( 181/2011). Tamil Nadu Darts Association is further affiliated to the Indian Darts Federation , registered at Gujarat.’

In the past 6 years, apart from the state, national championships and the International Chennai Open , TANDA takes pride in the fact that it has hosted the PDC Asia youth qualifier tournaments in Chennai for participation in PDC world youth championship at Reading, UK and the PDC doubles team India qualifiers for participation in the PDC World Cup at Germany.

India has ever since participated in International tournaments like the World Cup of Darts - Germany , PDC youth championship – Reading- UK, Malaysian Open as well as many other open championships held around the world..Currently there are 12 member states in India who regularly participate in the National tournaments.

TANDA conducts 1 state championships, 2 inter club league tournaments,1 National level championship and 1 International open championship tournament annually apart from intra club tournaments and corporate tournaments in Chennai.

TANDA also proposes to introduce DARTS in schools, colleges and at all major Corporate offices as a sport for relaxation and to improve strategic thinking and concentration.

Individual membership to TANDA is open to all residents of the state of Tamil Nadu. Affiliation of Clubs in Tamil Nadu is open to such clubs that have a darts lounge with minimum 2 dart boards and 4 darts teams comprising of a minimum of 1 female player in a 4 member team.

TANDA offers coaching camps for darts enthusiasts who wish to learn the game.
